FAQ: Door Construction Materials

Why do doors need intumescent materials?

Building Codes require fire door assemblies to meet the requirements of UL 10C and UBC 7-2-97. To meet these requirements, Category A doors will need intumescent within the construction. Category B doors will require a surface applied intumescent gasket. Please refer to our sections on Door Construction Materials and Gaskets for Fire Doors Assemblies for the Lorient products that will help meet these requirements.

Why are there so many different grades of Tecnofire® material?

Different Category A doors could require intumescent materials with different characteristics: Tecnofire® provides that option. Tecnofire® grades have been proven in various doors and Lorient can provide materials cut to size, with self-adhesive backing if required, and even in roll form.
